Heh. I'm either bestest friend ever or employee from hell. It's all according to your POV.
Okay, so I sort wrote up that whole letter that led to the stink that finally helped my ex-bosses hock up the nerve to fire red-headed troll Dougie's sexist ass. Then, three weeks later, I quit. The following Monday the intern I was supposed to "mentor" followed my lead and also quit. A couple of weeks ago, the new production manager at my old firm ALSO quit. And meanwhile?
Meanwhile, my new boss spoke of how MUCH work my new firm has. It's coming out our ears and he said he was considering hiring someone. So I piped in that I knew someone who was looking, my friend Peter. I then talked Peter into interviewing and today my boss said that based on my rec (I thought that was a nice compliment to be given) they're hiring him. So. . .I cost my old firm one MORE employee. Hee!
I feel like I just got a innocent man sprung from prison. Peter is a really nice guy who has simply been MISERABLE for so long. Unfortunately, he was having a lot of problems working up the nerve to actually leave (I've felt terrible for him because he felt so stuck. His wife JUST had a baby in June so she just quit her job to stay home with their two --under three--year old children. Peter has been ill and had to have surgery last month to correct the on-going medical problem, and his mother-in-law has recently been diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer. Poor guy.) At McCauley those of us "dependable" employees were just walked on. Raises were few and far, far between in the last few years and they'd keep hiring (assholes) OVER those of us like Peter and myself (yep. After I left they hired another architect and put him OVER Peter.) So now... heh! Peter gets a raise, gets his own office (something neither of us ever had at McCauley) and he gets to work only 2 blocks from home.
I'm bestest friend EVER! (And feeling quite happy with myself)
