shipperx: (Scully - This sucks)

So [livejournal.com profile] ladywenham left the spike fanfic fandom because some jerkwads got their panties in a twist because they didn't win Raison D'etre Awards? That's just not right. Guess what, a lot of people don't win. Sometimes other stories are more popular or they fit a popular niche. Get over it. No one deserves an explanation for why they didn't win. You didn't win. Are you twelve? (And if you are twelve... that's seriously not the way to behave). Hell, I haven't been nominated for a fanfic award since Season 5. That's life. It's a shame some people pestered [livejournal.com profile] ladywenham until she left. How sad.

On a different note -- damned Bit Torrents! I've been trying for a week now to download Ep 2 and Ep 3 of Rome. First, I got stuck on some hinky and strange torrent that downloaded more information than the actual size of the file and still claimed to only be 9% done. Then I wound up with a torrent that stuck on 99% but wouldn't go higher. It sucks! I want Ep 2 & 3!

And... ankle is still swollen. It's better. I can now walk without limping (much). I figured out though (with some thought) that the ankle I sprained is the same one where I tore the ligament in the ankle in high school, so I suppose I aggravated the old injury).

And to top everything else off, I've had an upset stomach all evening. *sigh* Is it the weekend yet?

Seems that things are blown out of proportion. Now I'm sad for everyone involved.

There's no point in it. There's really nothing they can do for it. Even when I had the way worse injury in high school... there's nothing they can do about it unless it's bad enough for surgery. And unless you're an athlete, it's really not bad enough for surgery. So you wrap it, ice it, pamper it. Scar tissue ties it all back together (eventually) and you go on your way.

And it probably wouldn't still be swollen if I hadn't been on it so much this weekend at the game, walking to the game, etc., working all Sunday standing on it on a concrete floor, or standing on it all day today while measuring the same abandonned school where I sprained it last week.

It's not all that bad... just still swollen where around the ankle bone.

I hope you feel better soon :)

I fell into a pothole once (don't ask) and tore ligaments in my ankle. I was on crutches and a cane for quite a while - it didn't heal that quickly.

::hugs::

Yeah, I tore the ligament in my ankle in high school. It's amazing how you forget though that it takes so long to heal. It is better though. So it is improving... slowly.

Speaking as one of the RDA judges you have no idea how really angry I am about all of this. LW has put a ton of hard work into this and she was so proud of the awards when she debuted them and to be driven away from fandom completely is just heartbreaking.
Do you want me to tape Rome for you? I've got HBO and two vcrs so I can easily tape the episodes. Things are starting to perk up in Episode Three so I'm getting more hopeful about this series. E mail me : wurmiebaby@yahoo.com
Sprains and broken bones are the bitch but oddly enough I found the sprain to be more annoying and painful than the break. Weird.

That's so incredibly sweet! But you really don't have to do that. I'll keep trying the torrents and if they don't work, the DVDs will no doubt come out eventually.

Thank so you much for the offer, though. How generous! *hug*

I hope your foot feels better soon. I've been there. Ouch.

Also, I wanted to tell you that I smile everytime I see that icon of yours. Poor Scully, sitting in a freezing room looking at hookers all day while Mulder is being waited on and meeting ravens.

The ankle is getting better. It just seems to take a while. And I always heart Scully.

HUH? LadyWenham left over some asshole who didn't win a contest? It makes you wonder what kind of stalkery harrassing was going on if it would cause someone to totally pack up and go. Jeez.

According to the person who precipitated the kerfuffle, one politely-worded letter.

Check out [livejournal.com profile] peasant_'s journal for the other side of the story. Without actually seeing the letter and LW's response I'm not willing to make huge final judgements, but having known Peasant for some time, I truly don't believe that there was any malice intended on her part, and she's quite dismayed at LW's reaction.

Nothing in fandom is ever straightforward and easy, is it? *sigh*

Sounds like the situation may be subjective as I've now heard/read three differing points of view on it. Such is fandom, I suppose.

Yeah, you are right. Like you, I hadn't seen all the sides yet.
