Heroes Finale
May. 21st, 2007 09:11 pmHee! Yes, this show is dippy, but I don't care. It's simply fun.
Yeah, yeah it's somewhat predictable, but even if the happy payoffs are predictable, I don't care. It's nice to have them! I loved Claire telling Nathan that she already had a family [with the Bennets]. I loved the heroes crossing paths and coming together. I loved Hiro saving Ando (because, dude, Ando had to be saved!) I loved Horned Rimmed Glasses Guy casually revealing his name [Noah] and the fact that he and his Claire-bear are together again at the end. Also the way it felt so very not true when Mamma Petrelli said that he wasn't Claire's father. Oh, yeah Mamma Petrelli, he most certainly IS! Glad that the Nikki/Jessica thing is resolved with there only being one of them. D.L. didn't seem to die, so yay for that (I like D.L.). Molly seems determined to hang onto Mohinder, so maybe she can be the brains of the outfit. Peter isn't going to be dead because you know he can regenerate (though, one would think it difficult to regenerate after having been vaporized. But... still. Not dead.) And Sylar was given a suitable 'death... or is he dead' ending.
The only thing in the finale that actually bothered me was Simone's father giving Peter the "all you need is love" speech, because that just isn't as profound as they think it is.
And finally, the cliffhanger. Whee! Time travel to distant past! Oh, the fannish, geeky fun! [I'm assuming next season will be origin stories, and perhaps some Dark Shadows-ish possibilities of the same actors playing their own ancestors for an episode or two. After all, who says that medieval Japan is the only place in the past that Hiro can go?) And then there's Molly's ominous mention of another Big Bad. It may not be profound, but it's pop-corn good fun, and that's what I want from Heroes. Not a perfect finale, but certainly light-years more enjoyable than 24s. All in all, I'm happy.
