* A weekend without drawing!  Woo-hoo!

* Air conditioning is acting bizarre.  The condenser appears to be running and it seems to be producing cold air, but sometimes there's no pressure behind it.  I'm convinced that something is screwed up with the fan.  Air Con guy is to come out to the house this morning (Mom agreed to come over and let him in to check out the system.  Here's hoping that whatever is wrong isn't expensive.

* Yesterday was more or less recital day.  I managed to skip my neice's piano recital but I was still all cultured up by having to spend a couple of hours at the Alabama Youth Symphony as my nephew is graduating and this would be the last performance.  Then I had to go almost directly to my neice's ballet recital.

* Dad was sick all weekend with the stomach flu.  I told mom that she really needed to cancel Dad's heart stress test scheduled for this morning because there's no way that can be good following a Sunday unable to eat and throwing up.  My sister agreed.

* Going on vacation to the beach Friday.  Woo-hoo!  Unfortunately, my sis is on some passive-aggressive streak with her son and she refuses to call my older nephew and tell him that I'm going to the beach this weekend.  (Explanation:  Older nephew is in college.  He frequently makes trips to the beach house ... with friends.  Apparently, this is his last week for the semester so after finals he's planning to take his girlfriend and a "couple" of friends to the beach.  The last time he went the 'couple' turned out to be 17 kids (he was ratted on by his paternal grandmother who lives down the street.  You'd think he'd remember these things)  The big spring party included structural damage to the house and to the bikes we leave at the beach house.  So, my sister was thrilled when she found out that I planned to go to the beach.   Uh... I'm slightly less thrilled with the prospect of a house full of college students. I like my nephew's girlfriend, but I really don't want to have to deal with a house full of kids.  (I may be 13 years younger than my sis, but that still leaves me 16 years older than my nephew.  We're still talking a significant age difference).

My sister's explanation is that she's waiting for my nephew to call HER to say hi and then she'll tell him that actual adults are going to be there.  Mom laughed and somewhat snarkily said that my nephew is like his mother (as my sister was/is notorious for not calling or telling anyone her plans as well.)   Frankly, I'm thinking of calling the kid this afternoon.  I don't have patience with these mindgames between mother/son.  Basically, his girlfriend and total of 2 other friends is fine.  More than that?  Nuh-uh.  I'll be there all next week and his grandparents are going to be there part of the time as well, and we don't need the beach house to resemble a fraternity house.  But, how the heck is the kid supposed to know if no one TELLS him?
