The film "Red Tails" became an instant must-see for Alabama football fans thanks to Nick Saban's recent endorsement when he said the team watched it the night before they drubbed LSU 21-0 in the BCS championship game Monday night.

After the game in New Orleans, producer George Lucas'  issued a statement thanking Saban for his remarks on the film and congratulated Alabama on its victory, according to USA Today.

"Everyone associated with the film was so honored that Coach Saban elected to have his entire team screen the film on the eve of their championship game," Lucas said in the statement.

Lucas said it was personally gratifying that the Alabama players and coaches took to heart the film's message of overcoming adversity, never giving up, self-sacrifice and ultimate teamwork.

During his post-game press conference, Saban said the team had emphasized the characters' motto from the film: "To the last plane, the last bullet, the last man, the last minute we fight and we always stay with the mission."

Saban said he thinks that described the spirit of the group of players Alabama had on its team this season.

"Red Tails" actor Nate Parker also congratulated Saban and the Tide players, tweeting this at al.com and Alabama:

"@aldotcom @bama: #RedTails congratulate Coach Saban and the Crimson Tide on your BCS National Championship! #RollTideRoll!! #WEFIGHT!"

So, happy stuff.

*  Finished Ready Player One with a big ol' grin my face (it was the Monty Python bit that did it).  It felt like the book should've had closing credits with Tears for Fears singing "Everybody wants to rule the world..." with images of a house exploding with popcorn  (Real Genius reference).

*  ABC is promising that "Cougar Town" will make it back onto the schedule (though it still won't say when).

*  Didn't go to sleep until 1AM because the game wasn't over until 11:30, I still had to drive home (viewing party), and the aftergame radio show was still going on a 1AM.  It's truly absurd how much joy a football game can bring when it's 'your' team winning.  (And you come from a culture where this is more accurate than parody:

*  OLTL was canceled and is ending this week (which is sad).  But, on the bright side, they murdered the character I hate, loathe and despise.  And they did it in the most absurd way possible.  He was impaled by chandelier!  Die, Rapey, die!  Muwhahahahaha!  (Now if only they'll fix that adorable baby's paternity so that my favorite Navy Pocket S.E.A.L. would get a happy(ish) ending).

*  Game of Thrones: In Production
