So, happy stuff.

*  Finished Ready Player One with a big ol' grin my face (it was the Monty Python bit that did it).  It felt like the book should've had closing credits with Tears for Fears singing "Everybody wants to rule the world..." with images of a house exploding with popcorn  (Real Genius reference).

*  ABC is promising that "Cougar Town" will make it back onto the schedule (though it still won't say when).

*  Didn't go to sleep until 1AM because the game wasn't over until 11:30, I still had to drive home (viewing party), and the aftergame radio show was still going on a 1AM.  It's truly absurd how much joy a football game can bring when it's 'your' team winning.  (And you come from a culture where this is more accurate than parody:

*  OLTL was canceled and is ending this week (which is sad).  But, on the bright side, they murdered the character I hate, loathe and despise.  And they did it in the most absurd way possible.  He was impaled by chandelier!  Die, Rapey, die!  Muwhahahahaha!  (Now if only they'll fix that adorable baby's paternity so that my favorite Navy Pocket S.E.A.L. would get a happy(ish) ending).

*  Game of Thrones: In Production

I decided not to watch the end of OLTL some months back; lemme know if they repair the damage to Jessica and her wee pretty pocket soldier cop; I might change my mind for that.

They killed off Todd? Or is there another one?

The other one, the mouthbreathing mentally ill molester. They killed the other dead eyed mentally ill molester a few months ago (but I still expect that he isn't actually dead.)

Translation : Todd lives. FauxTodd is 'dead', and Rapey Robert Ford was impaled by a heroic chandelier.

And people wonder why they chose to cancel the show and air the Revolution instead? LOL!

(Actually, at least that sounds mildly interesting, GH is beyond boring at the moment.
The momster and I are thisclose to giving up on it permanently. We just don't care any more.)

Well, you really have to hand it to RC in that as offensive as many of his stories are, he often has his tongue firmly planted in cheek and will mock the hell out of his own stuff.

For instance, there's been the subplot of the on-air 'soap' "Fraternity Row" being canceled much to the dismay of citizens of Llanview who watched the series. So Roxy fell asleep a week or so ago and had some weird ass dream recasting "people" in Llanview as a soap opera alter ego complete with twin retconning (Shawn --an African American character-- was revealed to be Todd's (or rather the Fraternity Row equivalent of Todd) identical non-identical twin... which is mocking their Todd/Todd identical non-identical twin. That episode was funny enough to be worth finding the YouTube of it.

Then the writer went all out and had the prison have a great escape so a whole host of villains (and the wrongly imprisoned) escape, all arriving in town the same day, each terrorizing the character they were supposed to terrorize and each ending up shooting someone last Friday (triple cliffhanger last Friday!) Scorecard:

Rapey got skewered by the heroic brass chandelier and much to his surprise... found himself in hell (BWHA!!!) greeted by the likes of his skeezy dead Dad.

Mitch Lawrence wound up in hell where he was informed that Jessica wasn't his daughter. "Nooooooo!"

The wrongly imprisoned Cole got sent to heaven so we revisted the more beloved dead of Megan, Luna, and Gabrielle, before he was allowed to live... etc.

Mitch's crazy minion, Allison got to announce that they were correcting the "twins by different fathers" retcon by announcing that she'd screwed around with the DNA tests (and boy everyone was stupid, she announced. Who on earth would believe at face value that twins had different fathers... [She was pretty funny], which means that Jessica is back to being Clint's 100% biological daughter.

RC has a ton of problems as a writer, but he does have a sense of humor and he does make fun 'events' where crazy-ass shit happens just to delight fans. I'm not sure how much of that will translate when he takes over GH though.

Shawn - an African American character...

Wait! That's the name of the African American character who is hooking up with Carly on GH.

Seriously. It is. He's sort of Jason character...body guard, post-traumatic stress disorder, served in Afghanistan, yadda yadda yadda...

And unfortunately boring as all get out.

The show has become incredibly dull under Garin Wolf's direction. And excruciating in places...the highlight was this insane recrimination scene with Michael outting his mother for hiding the fact that Jax was alive and not killed by Sonny. (Note - she didn't know he was alive for certain, merely suspected or presumed it based on two small items - Jax's boat that he bought for her was missing and his mother never contacted her. But apparently that's enough to mean that she absolutely knew and was evil bitch momma from hell for not telling everyone her suspicions. Talk about ludicrious plotlines. It went on for three days...and was repetitive. I felt sorry for the actors who all looked like they were about to burst out laughing at the stupidity.)

Soap operas. Sigh. Yet, oddly, the Whedon Buffy comics are sillier. Actually so was the X-men for that matter. Which is oddly reassuring.

Regarding OLTL...so that was how they resolved the insane prison break out storyline I saw previewed after GH. We still get previews for OLTL after GH. At least they are having fun with OLTL. Half tempted to see how insane they go with GH - because it's getting canceled. There's no doubt in my mind it's not long for this world. They want to bring back all these people for reunions, but are struggling to keep the actors they have. Jonathan Jackson (Lucky) quit. Genie Francis refuses to budge from Y&R.
And the gal playing Robin just quit. Rumor has it more to come. They may end in the same pathetic way that Guiding Light apparently did.

And... I just saw that Todd, Blair, & Starr Manning (and John McBain) are all going to General Hospital.

I think I saw that Tristan Rogers is returning as well.

Okay...how exactly are all of them going to GH? As themselves...or in new roles? John McBain could be interesting - considering that he and the actress portraying Sam McCall (Jason's current wife and the woman Franco allegedly raped - don't ask, makes the Rapey storyline seem relatively tame by comparison) used to be in GH's spin-off Port Charles, he played a vampire and she played the woman he was obsessed with. Not sure we need Blair, Todd and Starr though...we have enough anti-hero characters already, we don't need more. I did hear the actress playing Starr was being tapped to replace the actress playing Kristina. Then again, we've had cross-overs between OLTL and GH before (SKye jumped between the two shows as did Tracey, and I think someone else.)

Tristan is returning? I know Finnola Hughes (Anna Devane) is. All related to the Robin is dying storyline, no doubt. (the evil Lisa Niles reactivated her aids...too complicated and gross to explain.)

I gather as themselves. They said "Todd, Blair, and Starr." Though that is husband, wife, and daughter, so I can see them going as a group.

ABC owned both GH and OLTL so I think ABC still has rights to the characters.

Interesting. Why didn't they do the same thing with All My Children? Would have made more sense, considering Skye Chandler jumped from AMC to GH some time ago. And Anna Devane and Robin both went to AMC for a bit. There's actually been more back and forth between those two shows.

Is it because the head-writers/producing team from OLTL is heading to GH to take over?
Rumor has it that Sonny and Luke are on their way out. Lucky already left - although that was open-ended.

Hee. Todd vs. Sonny. Or better still Blair vs. Carly. Not sure there's enough room for the egos. ;-) I may stick with GH just to see how they handle that one.

It's so hard to keep them straight. ;-)

So was Rapey Robert Ford - the cop? Who pretended to be the father of whatsohername's baby, when in reality John was the Dad? Or is Rapey Robert Ford the guy who gave Nora and Bo's son brain damage? (I watched briefly in July, then lost interest after they wrapped up the whole weird twin plotline. I admittedly only tuned in to see how they brought old Todd back to the show and how he reacted to new Todd's storyline. I like that sort of thing.)

The cop was Pocket SEAL Brody ( I loved the Pocket Seal. He was a sweety and one of those extraordinarily rare genuine non-self-righteous good guys... until they decided to make him go nutso in order to prop Rapey and John.)

The guy who gave Bo and Nora's son brain damage was Rapey's brother. Basically, the entire Rapey family was loathed.

Okay, a new character that was introduced when I wasn't watching it. Managed to avoid the Rapey family story arc. Yay, me. Now if I could have avoided the Franco storyline on GH all would have been right with the world (and I might be able to watch a James Franco film without wincing.)
