Anytime you watch a show, and react by thinking about non-story explanations for what just happened, it's a sign the writer has not done his/her job.

You have a point. But I'm not a good test case because I was so spoiled beforehand and read it in a post from a hysterical MR fan on Fandom_Wank. I don't think I could divorce that knowlege from watching. Not sure how your unspoiled, not-net-geek Joe Schmoe would think.

I really think that LOST should just go the 24 route and start the season really late so that it can go straight through without the long breaks where it's oh-so-easy to lose interest.

But, yeah, things happened tonight.

Michael returned.

Ana-Lucia and Sawyer had sex.

Hurley wanted to re-enact Say Anything's Peter Gabriel scene for Libby. (Awwww!)

Implications that Claire is Jack's sister (and that's why Jack's father was in Australia)

Michael murdered Ana Lucia, looks like he murdered Libby too. Then he shot himself in what looks like an attempt to release Not!Henry Gale and yet still look innocent himself (which means that if Libby lives at all, she'll be in dire danger). So is Michael evil now? Not sure how you get away with double murder.

Previews show Mr. Eko falling off a cliff (nooo!!!)

Yes! No to the killing of Mr. Eko! I love him, and I love that he's like Viggo Mortensen in A History of Violence. He's one of the few truly interesting, complicated characters on the show, and I don't know if I'll feel like watching the Captain Hero Jack and Queen Of The Island Kate Show anymore if they kill him off. :/

I keep telling myself that if they are showing his 'death' in the previews then surely he won't actually die because that's giving the plot away.

(Then I remember that I made the same comments about Marti Noxon's 'bad boyfriend' bullshit and I find myself nervous again).

I know I'm in a tiny minority when I say that I actually kind of liked Ana-Lucia. She was growing on me, and I wanted to know more of her collaboration with Jack's father. She didn't do anything but drive him around. Why did he need "muscle" for that? And poor Sawyer got whomped by the car door.
I totally agree that Claire is Jack's sister.
I really can't stand Jack. Why can't somebody shoot him?

Heh. Not a big fan of Jack myself. I'd be okay with his death. As for Ana, I wasn't an Ana hater but I'm not particularly upset about her death either.

No. Ana is truly and most sincerely dead. There appears to be some small area of gray as to whether Libby really, really bit the dust (inasmuch as producers haven't confirmed it yet. But it may be just 'wait until next week' death.) But they've confirmed that Ana isn't just pining for the fjords.
