There's simply no fun or purpose to snark when it's become this easy.

From Entertainment Weekly Online:

Again, Sarah Michelle Gellar is a toon hero's sidekick

Growing up, my younger brother was obsessed to two things: Transformers and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This, then, has been an excellent week of nostalgia for him: First the Transformers movie trailer -- which he said was "okay, though the Transformers are too shiny" and look like "a visual rip-off of Lego's Bionicles" (being a non-techie, I'm taking his word for it) -- and now, some news on the new TMNT casting front. Although the turtles themselves will be voiced by unknowns, Sarah Michelle Gellar will provide the vocals for TV reporter April O'Neill, The Fantastic Four's Chris Evans will be Casey Jones, Zhang Ziyi (or Ziyi Zhang -- however Americans choose to print it) wil be baddie Karai, and just for the heck of it, Kevin Smith will cameo as a diner chef.

Poor Sarah Michelle. Her last two films tanked and were virtually indistinguishable from each other, and her next, January's animated Happily N'Ever After, doesn't look like such a winner either. Plus, January? Even six-year-olds know that's the month movies go to die.

But I can still snicker, right?
I mean it is Christmas and I deserve some festiveness.

Hey, it sure is a good thing she got away from that icky BtVS when she did so she could pursue her fabulous film career!

It held her back, don't you know.

I don't know. I worry way more about things like Southland Tales and Girl's Guide. Tons of actors provide voices for animated crap and it rarely means anything to their career other than a paycheck. This will probably make money and do nothing to either help or hurt her. It's the films she's actually acting in that are quickly sinking her career.

I didn't even have the heart (or the evil glee) to post the opening weekend grosses of her last movie (which opened in 9th place.) Honestly, I think someone should advise her to seek a decent supporting role in something or find an ensemble piece. Stop trying to open crappy movies. It doesn't matter if her name is first in the credits when it's unwatchable crap which tanks at the boxoffice.

She actually does have two ensemble pieces coming out. It's just that we know one of them sucks ass and may never be released, and the other has zero buzz to it.

Personally, I think tales of Southland Tales release are slipping into the way of urban legend. At this point, why aren't they simply releasing it direct to DVD?

And, the second one at least has some decent cast members in it.

That said, this review of her recent movie pretty much sums up most of my problems with her work in recent years:

I'm not at all one to admire SMG, but the second has Taylor Nichols (and a lot of other great actors) and I think I just watched Metropolitan at a particularly impressionable time in my life.
