Dear old LKH. I do agree with her about one thing, though. I don't understand why someone would stand in line for hours to get an autograph just to tell the author they hate their work. I thought the last really good book in the series was Obsidian Butterfly and stopped reading it altogether after Incubus Dreams. I really couldn't be bothered to wait in line to tell her the series sucks now.

When I read the wank, I thought possibly the person who stood in line to tell LKH s/he was disappointed in what LKH had done to the series doesn't go on the Internet to her blog or boards or whatever, and thought maybe LKH wasn't aware of what many fans are feeling about the series. Obviously, LKH doesn't care to hear any criticism about her books, and that's fine. Now that she's made it perfectly clear that all she wants is praise, (did anyone else think of ff.net: "read pleeze! and reveu! if u tell me u leik ths i'll right mor chaptures1 thanx <11 !!!!!!!) I certainly won't bother. I stopped reading her books when Anita went from a strong, interesting character into a manipulated whore with no control over her own life. I was glad to hear that she's not planning to change that any time soon, so I can save my money for other books.

Really. I never liked Richard, and was bothered that Anita preferred him over Jean Claude, but then when LKH brought in the were-leopards and all that other shit, I gave it up rather than waste my time on it.

I don't get the waiting in line part, and I don't get communities set up just to hate on something. Gotta give LKH that much. When her books became unreadable, I just stopped reading her.

The best thing that could happen to Hamilton is that her sales drop to the point where she has to accept an editor, a real editor who could make her start writing plots, and not just porn. And dull, pretentious porn at that.

I loved the early books, even though I desperately longed to edit them, but Anita is nothing but a Mary Sue these days, adored by every male of any species (and a few females, iirc) who crosses her path, and it's duuuuulllllll. What a waste of a good idea, fallen to the battering of one woman's overinflated ego. *sigh*

Somebody bought me a set of Anita's books last Christmas

They started out well and just got, erm... well..., let's just say not good I mean I like a bit of porn but they were just one not terribly sexy sex scene after another

And let us not mention the Merry Gentry stuff ;)

I gave all but the first three Anita Blake books to Oxfam and, whilst I would never waste time joining hate communities or queuing to insult the woman ,it's fair to say that her future royalties will not be enhanced by me :)

I'm surprised to hear that sales have gone up, I stopped buying them a while back. I did absolutely love Obsidian Butterfly though, so I might be tempted to buy the next book with Edward (my favourite character!)

There was always a part of me that hoped for Edward/Anita, but I guess it would be a but much at this point *sighs* And if we're talking characters that need killing off, Micah was only introduced to give Anita more sex. He really needs to go

Dude, I couldn't get through her first book, when I'm told they were actually good. So I just have to say..."There are books that don't make you think that hard"...there are picture books, pop-up books, comic strips, that have made me think more than LKH's work.

Ohhh, but this was good stuff! I love unchecked egomania.

Man, I'm trying to think of ANY books that could possibly make me think any less. I can't. There's tons of fanfic that beats her writing all to hell.

Glad I quit her when I did, although all this wanking does look like fun...
;D

Her sales figures are up because they moved her to hardback and started to charge 24.95 per book. I highly doubt that her sales figures are any higher than they were before.

I just love how when people get "Famous" their brains fall out. It makes me giggle, thanks for the links!
