Okay, Fillion, You Win

Okay, damn.  I've been 'meh' on Nathan Fillion for a while (Caleb was just... ::shudder::) , but now, darnit, I'm impressed.  Most stars once they manage to break into primetime forget their roots and run like hell from them.  Anyway, the fact that Fillion is willing to return to One Life to Live for the funeral of his on-screen grampa (no doubt as a tribute to Phil Carey who-- no, he isn't dead --is leaving as part of a wider controversy (primarily, ABC daytime is allergic to anyone over 40 these days, so off with the heads of veterans.  How dare they (gasp) grow old!)

Anyway, good on Fillion.  Who knew that someone voluntarily doing a soap appearance would impress me.  

Fillion always was my favorite Joey, and I hope his Joey gives Dorian hell for her dating his father!

Nathan Fillion by Carin Baer/Fox As previously reported, Phil Carey quit ABC's One Life to Live when his contract expired in April. Since the veteran daytimer declined to go on recurring status, his Asa Buchanan character will die off screen. Sure, it's a bummer. But fortunately, Mr. Carey — who turns 82 this month — will receive a fitting farewell tribute this summer. Several of Llanview's legacy characters will appear in the 10,000th episode on Friday, August 17. As you might guess, they'll be attending Asa's funeral. Wow, I'm going to have to watch that. I haven't watched OLTL in years, but now I'm all nostalgic.

I haven't watched in years, as well. The only reason I know that Dorian and Clint are 'dating' is that I saw someone bitching about it on a blog, recently.

I probably will tune in for Asa's funeral (I'm a sucker for soap weddings and funerals).

*dusts off NF story*

I met NF at a OLTL Fan Club luncheon before he ever started appearing on the show. Sweet guy. He was just sitting there at the end of a table with the lesser-known actors (my MIL was getting a pic with Roy Thinnes, whom she loved from Dark Shadows). He was sitting next to a recurring character who played a maid!

I just loved him.

They killed off Asa Buchanan? Those bastards! (Although I haven't watched the show in like 20 years - they killed off Asa Buchanan?!?!)

And from eerything I've read, Nathan fillion is just an all-around really nice guy in RL. Good on him!
