Christmas is so hard on...  forget diets, it's hard on just trying to maintain any sort of normal level of caloric intake or health.  In the weeks before Christmas, it seems that clients, printers, etc. send the office loads and loads of food.  So right now we have boxes of everything from dark chocolate covered toffee popcorn, a whole Honeybake ham, a whole pecan pie, a vast assortment of gourmet chocolate truffles, three different kinds of fudge, boxes upon boxes of nuts, garlic Chexmix, baskets of fruit, Christmas cookies, petit fours, an assortment of cheese and crackers,  turtle cheesecake, chocolate covered pretzels, white chocolate covered pretzel balls, etc.

Even trying to resist and only rarely taking a bit of anything and it's still far in excess of anything I should eat.  And I had been so good prior to Thanksgiving.

But... it's chocolate!  and Honeybake ham!  And pretzel balls.  And did I mention chocolate?  (Hell the other day the gas company sent us a tray of chicken buiscuits and hot O.Henry coffee!)  It's declicious, but it's damn near impossible to keep a healthy diet with all this temptation around.

Nods. I was just out buying Christmas cookies but Petzi Sis took them to her fridge and locked them up since they're a gift for someone.
Out of sight - out of mind is the only way to go at this time of the year. And even that ain't easy.

*sigh* Oh, I know. Nice people keep bringing brownies and cookies and other good stuff here to the library, and the only saving grace is that if it sits in the break room for more than about ten minutes, it's guaranteed to vanish!

The thing that's killing me is that this is the only time of year when Walker's Shortbread (the BEST!) becomes available, and as even the Scots will tell you, there is no better shortbread in the world! The temptation is to stock up for the coming year, but I keep telling myself, noooooo.... don't do it....

Ah, yes. The amount of chocolate in this house alone is staggering. (Of course, some of it will be mailed away, but still...)

Happy Eating Days!
