Battlestar Stud Playing Dollhouse with Dushu

Joss Whedon is letting his obsession with Battlestar Galactica get the best of him — and I couldn't be happier about it!

Whedon has tapped Galactica stud Tahmoh Penikett (aka Helo) to play Eliza Dushku's "twisted romantic foil" in Dollhouse, a spokesperson for Twentieth Television confirms.

That said... Helo is hot!

Yes, but will he be emasculated, turn evil, or die?

My guess is none of the above - Penikett falls into the big beefy moronhandsome, swaggering hero-type Whedon loves so much (Boreanaz, Blucas, Fillion, even [snerk] Comic!Xander) and not-so-secretly wishes he were. Heh. Even though his "alter-ego" in this show will be the nerdy guy (who turns out to be a hero), he always has to include one of these large, all-American guys for personal wish-fulfillment.

Shh! ComicXander doesn't exist. >:)

And, yeah, Joss does have a thing for these All-American big beefy guys. I don't get it. I only began liking Angel when he started to become somewhat goofy.

OMG, the cheekbones! I've lost my heart to a pair of cheekbones once already, I don't think I can take it again...

Well, I've watched him for years on BSG and have never fallen in love with him (though I like his character more than most on BSG. I mean, I don't wish Helo a miserable death... unlike most BSG characters...)

But, given the heartache of past Whedon projects, I really don't intend to fall in love with any character on the show. That way lies tears, frustration, and bitterness. :)

You missed out repeatedly stripped, beaten up and humiliated.

No doubt. This is true.

He’s also … well, I’ll probably piss off people by saying this, but … he’s not a very good actor, in my opinion, so I think playing a "twisted romantic foil" is probably totally beyond him. But then again, I’m not convinced Eliza Dushku is either, even though I absolutely adore Faith (on “Angel” anyway :P)

Well, if you can be evil, so can I. >:)

What most concerns me about this are Dushku's weird cheek implants. Ever since the awful plastic surgery ( http://www.awfulplasticsurgery.com/eliza_dushku.htm ) I find her look somewhat disturbing.

And she used to be so darn hot! Why, Hollywood? Why make all these actresses have plastic surgery?

I like Helo, but I like the Chief Tyrol (Aaron Douglas) even more. Still, I'm more interested in this show now than before this casting.

I just don't trust Joss (or Fox) enough to get too excited about Dollhouse however.

True and true. And, if I ever do watch this show, I know that I will do everything in my power to prevent myself from becoming attached to any 'ship that may appear on screen because nothing good ever comes from that with Joss.
