In the circle of sycophants that surround the daytime soap opera industry and its fandom there are a pair of conjoined twins known as Soap Opera Digest and Soap Opera Weekly. Actually, calling them twins is a misnomer because they are owned and run by the exact same people. Chief editor and fandom shitstirrer being one Carolyn Hinsey whose wanky hit parade includes:

pissing off the Writers Guild of America by writing that the writers had no right to go on strike.

In her somewhat 'interesting' views on rape she's written blogs saying - "I do not believe that women can physically "rape" men", finding one rape storyline to be "a laugh riot", awarding another rape plot an "editor's choice" spot in one of her magazines by saying that the female character "asked for it" and wishing one character to violate another "with a fireplace poker". And, when fans of said shows protested, she wrote a column whining about angry fan letters about her views

Ah, but this is rather bland old news (Really old. Like 2002 old, which is why I can't find the original columns and can only link to stuff complaining about it).

But, today it appears that she was fired, and it is not simply the soap fandom posting "Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead" . Apparently, her underlings are posting their glee in public (some under soap character names). Choice responses being:

hatecarolynsomuch:
I wasn’t even going to comment, because after leaving Digest years ago because of the most evil woman who has ever lived on this planet — her name is Carolyn Hinsey, in case you didn’t know it by now — I thought to myself: SHE WAS FIRED! KARMA HAS PREVAILED. WHY BOTHER TO SHARE MY THOUGHTS? THE WORLD IS NOW AT PEACE! But then I just had to shout it from the rooftops, to let others who have shared my grief know that they are not alone. I could write a novella (as I’m share we all can) at the humiliation most of us felt because she was so insecure about her gargantuan size that she felt the need to treat us like dirt on the floor. I don’t even care that these might be run-on sentences. I am typing so fast at the exhiliration I am feeling today that after all these years, justice has been served. Granted, years and years and years too late — oh, Lynn Leahey and her blind eyes; nothing like wanting to come out looking like the good cop when everyone knew differently — but justice nonetheless. And if anyone comments disputing anything I’ve just said, it’s just because they’ve been brainwashed to think that Ms. Hinsey actually has a career in journalism ahead of her and may just get them a job!

astitchintime adds gossip:
back in the days when the SOD offices were in Chelsea, Ms. Hinsey would actually ride the elevator with her checkbook open, not even balancing it, so we could all see the tens of thousand of dollars listed. Pathetic.

Hinsey does have one defender, Eric Faison who (rather logically) points out:
Being someone who has a job, and I’m assuming you all do to, maybe you shouldn’t hold on to so much hostility for someone who is not even in your life anymore.

But don't inject restraint into underling dances of schadenfreude joy!

Cesar Faison writes:
"Her hostility and rage caused staffers to pop xanax and go into therapy. It was a crime how she was allowed and enabled to literally give people ulcers and panic attacks"

Eric Faison strikes back:
I don’t ever see letting ANYONE drive me in to therapy or having a panic attack. I’m the master of my domain.

Personally, I'm not sure what masturbating has to do with it.

Not much wank tons of wank on the thread. Boy, Hinsey's ears must be burning tonight as posters seem to feel free to spread gossip, bile, and snark. ETA: Now well over a 1000 posts long!

Basically my thoughts usually ran along two lines when occasionally reading her columns.

Laughing because they were insane and cracked out.

Fuming... because they were insane and cracked out.

Those comments were *wild*! I didn't know who she was because I don't read either digest.

And it just keeps going and going and going. When I looked last, the thing had stretched to well over a thousand posts with gossip all over the place.

Holy crap! I just read all the posts with avid interest and ....whoaaaaaaa Not only on CH, LL and SS but some performers on the shows! Yikes, I think there may be BIG fallout from this.

I loyally watched daytime TV (30 years GL, OLTL from episode 1 and DOOL from the second month on air for the longest but watched most at one point or another). I stopped about 3 years ago because of the hack writing, loss of continuity, disrespect for the history of the characters and other reasons. These names (and the three witches of the press) are quite familiar to me.

Thanks for this link.....you have given me quite an interesting read. I feel paid back for all those years viewing the shows and reading those two magazines (and fuming often).

It just dawned on me that, in comparison to this, I have never said a bad thing in my life. WHOA.

Makes me wish I still watched the soaps, in a twisted "me" kinda way. :D
