Spent too much money today. None of it was money I hadn't planned to spend, but... okay, I'm kind of a cheapskate.

I bought a new coffee maker. It's a nice one. Has higher wattage to raise the temp to the proper 200 degrees (which is actually difficult to find). My old one was over fifteen/sixteen years old, so I can't consider it too much of an extravagance. But still, more than I've ever spent on a coffee maker. However, I'm considering it to be part of the never-ending kitchen renovation (that has passed the year mark, now!)

In regards to the kitchen reno, I also bought grout for the backsplash tile. For those who read the tile indecision post, I went with the more dramatic glass one and put it up last weekend. Now all I have to do is grout it.

I also got stainless steel switch plates for the outlets (which is kind of funny considering that I don't have stainless steel appliances, but... whatev) After grouting I'll replace the switch plates.

Then I bought a couple of under cabinet lights that Dad said he'd install for me.

Finally, I bout a new linen lamp shade for the lamp in the living room. Mom had found a really nice lamp stashed in her attic (before she retired, she ran an interior design business and retail shop so she frequently has some nice treasures stashed in her attic.) It was a nice lamp, but needed a shade, so I bought a new shade that I thought would suit the lamp and my room.

So, yeah, all of these were planned expenses, but it always weirds me out when I go to several stores and buy a bunch of different things in one day. Especially coming three weeks after having shelled out the cash for the backsplash tile. But... I really want to finish the kitchen. It's gone on long enough!

::fingers crossed:: Not too far left to go.

I completely understand. Even when I have carefully squirrled away the cash for a purchase, I always have pangs when I make the outlay.

Enjoy your new kitchen! I hope to be able to re-do mine sometime next year. For some reason, the homeowners before me chose a buff color as the countertop. It's impossible to keep clean.
