shipperx: (True Blood- Tara Ain't Buyin' Shit)

I think I love Talbot. He's hilarious. And did like the King cutting Talbot's arguments off with "Darling... King." Heh.

Poor Tara. Franklin Mott is terrifying. And honestly, she won't be safe unless he's dead.

Terry looks so damn happy that you just know he's going to have his heart shattered in a million pieces.

Sookie is more interesting around Alcide. Which doesn't mean that I think they have any chemistry, just that in this storyline she has a bit more spunk than usual. I do think there's nice chemistry (thus far) with Lafayette and Jesus. Jesus is pretty. And Lafayette is all bashful with him. Awwww.

Hoyt is dating TBBT Wolowitz's girlfriend! And I guessed that Sam's little brother was going to be there to cause problems with Jessica and Hoyt... like they don't have enough already.

So I guess we know why Eric and Godric were hunting werewolves in WWII.

You know, this sets up a great grudgewank, and makes Eric a king as well.

Wonder what type of territorial pissing match this will lead to.

And Cooter needs to die a hideous death.

And so this vampire king and queen betrothal, where does that leave Talbot? Scorned lovers are always good for crazycakes drama.

I figure that this is going to be the way that Eric gets out of the mess he's in. One way of another the King and the Queen are going to be taking the blame instead of him. Give him time. He's going to figure out a way.

Cooter is just teeth grindingly annoying.

Talbot is gonna cut a bitch. You just know it!

Hoyt is dating TBBT Wolowitz's girlfriend!

OMG, THAT's who she was! It was driving me crazy.

I hated this episode for the most part (which means I saw only about 6 minutes of it), but I've decided that my very favorite part was Russell dressed as a Nazgul in Eric's Flashback of Bad Wigs. That Alan Ball. So clever.

Good. I was wondering if I was the only one thinking we've made a pitstop in Rohan during that flashback sequence.

And strangely, I don't think she's a bad fit for Hoyte!

I enjoyed this week better than last. But, then, I have to be honest. I hated last week's episode.

The vampire craziness definitely got ramped up several notches between crazy, lovesick Franklin, about to be homicidal Erik, Talbot being shoved aside for the crazy Queen and Russell just being Russell.

And I found I was a little more forgiving of Sam's dull family since I read some spoilers. And yes, I can see Tommy getting in the way of Hoyt and Jessica.

Talbot is going to have a mega-awesome hissyfit at some point.

I don't know the spoilers, but surely it's gonna go somewhere.

And I guessed Tommy's position purely based on age.

As always, thoroughly entertained by this episode, though the switch back to pussywhipped!Bill shouting for his Sukkeh was an extremely boring turn about. Just when I thought I might start to like him, he has to go and re-create the Buffy and Angel angst of season 3. DO NOT WANT. In other news, due to vague, amorphous book spoilers I heard from maybe a year ago, they might be setting Bill up for some kind of fall. I predict Eric will be the one to kill Russel (you don't set up a 1000 year + vendetta without payoff), unless Talbot gets that pleasure.

The flashback was a fun adventure in Middle Earth, and I enjoyed it, along with the bad wigs. I still really, really like Eric's story and the reemergence of his humanity, and could possibly fall for him like I did Spike. Pity Sookie isn't half as charismatic or as fascinating as Buffy, guaranteeing there never will be the same magic that makes Spuffy so wonderful.

Franklin is basically all of William the Bloody's bad parts on crack. He's basically a diehard Bangel fangirl's badfic approximation of Spike, character bashing and all. The good news is the actor is taking this and running with it - knocking the batshit behavior with Tara out of the park. Once again, True Blood has the mysterious ability to thoroughly entertain me while completely squicking me out.

And Jason's desk job montage? Perfect, if a bit of a waste of time. Wonder what supernatural being sweet little Reese Witherspoon-esque Crystal's gonna turn out to be?

Much love for the supporting cast and their interpersonal relations. Sympathy for Sam. Happy for Lafayette, and worried they'll drag out a long separation for Jessica and Hoyt, complete with rebounds with Tommy and Wolowitz's girlfriend.

And Terry. Poor, poor Terry. He's gonna get Joss'd for being so happy (I know that's the incorrect usage of Joss'd, but go with me here).

OMG, this is such a perfect description! Franklin has reminded me of WrungOut!Spike from AtS since day one, and you've described the characterization perfectly.

It also occurs to me that this Bangel!Crackfic!Spike characterization may actually be deliberate, as I'm also really starting to suspect that Alan Ball is writing Sucky/Beel's "epic love at the core of this series" (making a total hash of it BTW) as a way to work out his Bangel issues.

God, I hate Joss Whedon and his lousy acolytes.

Word. I'm hoping he'll go the way of the book spoilers, but Alan Ball is known for having a Bill/Sookie hard-on. So far I've loved all of his non-book directions (creating Jessica, keeping Lafayette around), but keeping the "epic love" epic would be one I'd be displeased with. Luckily, I care for the TB supporting characters more than I cared for Xander and Willow, so I'll keep watching.

He does have a Bill/Sookie thing, but I think he'll have to do some Eric stuff.

But generally since I don't honestly care about the triangle or who Sookie ends up with or loves or whatever, I'm still pretty good. As long as he keeps the misogyny in check (which I'm iffy about).

OMG. Now that you've pointed it out, it's frighteningly easy to envision. Hell, I think I've read a couple of those character bashing fics. ::shudder:

And, yes, the actor is rocking it.

I googled Jason's Crystal's story, so I gather she exists in the books as well.

Yeah, but not until much later in the series. This was obviously moved up to beef up Kwanten's role (otherwise he'd have nothing to do). Ball must really be in love with him...

I kind of think he is. But it also doesn't bother me much that Ball borrows from later books and departs from them. While Ball has gone overboard with the sheer number of storylines, I don't think that that the show could survive on Sookie alone. Plus shows tend to establish casts in early seasons, fans develop affections for those characters, and so it makes a certain amount of sense to keep their stories going.

That said, he's overloading storylines per episode which was really why last week's episode was so horrid. You had all of this vicious incidents with women one on top of the other because they were all going on simultaneously. Ball needs to learn to edit. But, I'm guessing he won't because OTT has become True Blood's calling card. However, if TB is going to have this many storylines, AB needs to push them along now. They've been treading water on every front but the vampire king stuff (which, the vampire King has actually been somewhat amusing).

I think it helps that I haven't read the books. I don't have much in the way of expectations and no original text to compare it to but what I google. (I keep trying to make it through Book 4 and I just keep stalling so I doubt I'll ever get around to reading the books).

That was much more fun than last week.

In a completely cracky way.

I am having to turn off my history brain though as the Viking kingdoms were highly consolidated a thousand years ago and Kinge Ericsdaddy would have been both historical and comanding much more wolf killable warriors in his hall.

Though I was squicked by the escaping black girl in period costume being chased by canines in front of plantation house. I hope she gets to turnaround the victimisation at some point.

Thank you for defining why that bothered me. I now have "The King and I"'s version of Uncle Tom's Cabin stuck in my head. "Run, Eliza! Run from Simon!"

Yeah. Very squicky, but I think it was supposed to be, because Tara is now starting to get her agency back, so that image will be contradicted.

It was more fun than last week, but then I didn't care for last week's episode much at all.

And yeah, Eric'sdaddykingdom had some similarities to Rohan. >:)

Oh man. Remember the "Free Katie" stuff when Katie Holmes became with Tom Cruise? I want to have a "Free Tara from having her free will subsumed!" Seriously, three seasons straight??

I think I love Talbot. He's hilarious.

Talbot is such a wonderful character, and brings a bit more humour to the show, which I like.

I was glad to see Tara start to fight back a bit this week. Franklin Mott is one scary character!

I loved Lafayette and Jesus. I'm looking forward to seeing more of them.
