Regarding the irksome " share comments" button

A couple of friends have pointed me to a fix

The following line of code doesn't just hide the repost boxes it completely removes the option for everyone viewing your journal or community..

1. Go to Journal > Journal Style

2. Go to Customize your theme

3. Go to Custom CSS

4. Copy and paste

.b-repost-item {display:none}

into the Custom stylesheet

5. Save changes

Now not only can you not crosspost comments, but anyone viewing your account can't either. This doesn't get rid of the reposting option when you're making a new entry, but at least that one's easy to avoid."

Does it work if you're still using S1? If not, I suppose it's time for me to concede defeat and switch to S2. I expect I can find a layout I don't totally loathe if I try.

Nope. It also doesn't work if you don't use custom comment pages, or, if like me, you read all comment pages in LJ default style.

Yeah -- no. Everyone using ?style=mine [as in everyone who sees comment pages in the default style -- I'm guessing A LOT of people?] can still see the buttons. I'm seeing them in this very comment box.

Right. But even when you do, it won't work for anyone a) not using the fix but using ?style=mine and b) seeing your posts in the default comments page. So, really, this is yet another script that only works for the people using it.

Unfortunately, this is something that only LJ can actually fix for real. :(
