shipperx: (Spike - I'm Paralyzed By Not Caring)
[personal profile] shipperx
Now, admittedly, I haven't read it, just the summaries of it, but from the sounds of it, they didn't have time to make sense have significant character moments because they had to rush on to... boring us.

Ooh! Look, it's a 'Becoming' redux. Glad they bypassed character moments or coherent plot development for that. Let no dead horse be unbeaten.

*yawn*

I'd completely forgotten that today was comic day. Ah well. I've decided that in the comics 'verse I ship Spike/Connor. I figure that's probably pretty safe since Connor's been forgotten. So, he can't be killed or OOC'd. :)

He's not important enough to kill. Or notice. Or have any real purpose in being there.

I had forgotten it was comic day until the posts started popping up.

Seems this month it's really just that...boring. Half the cast is possessed, so they don't have to come up with character motivation and the others are just bland.

Also it pretty much cements that the Spuffy panels in the last issue where exactly what they looked like. Fan service without any actual meaning for the characters.

That's basically been the story of the comics. I remember people being admonished for daring to think the Buffy/Satsu thing was just fanboy titilation and a desperate bid for attention... but that's basically what it's turned out to be.

He was only the centre of Angel's life, so yeah. What would they want with him? (I do not understand how the writers think. I do not udnerstand how the writers plot. I do not understand how the writers...anything!)

ETA: Are the characters actually possessed? I mean, have they been so the whole time, or is this a new development? /vaguely curious

It really is pathetic. Isn't it.

Its so sad that something that was once good has devolved so far up its own arse into something so poor and repetitve.

I knew it was comic day the minute I logged onto [livejournal.com profile] sd_herald and saw very little in the way of fic posted. It's like everyone hunkers down for cover or something.

Can Spike just beat these comics to death with a tire-iron?

I'm more disappointed in myself for thinking it could end on a somewhat interesting note. Surely that can't be Angel on the 39 cover! They wouldn't be *that* predictable and lame. Oh, you foolish boy.

It's sad to see these characters reduced to nothing more than stereotypes. That's all they are is stereotypes. There is no characterization in it. That in and of itself wrecks the 'verse more than any glowy lion.

I'm starting to think fandom is Charlie Brown, and Joss is Lucy with the football...

*nods* Everyone assumes crash-positions, closes their eyes and prays really hard for it to be over soon. (Much like Spike when he was tortured by the First, we have these not-real characters taunting us...)

Oh, look. The perfect explanation for the badness: Joss Whedon is The First and season 8 has all been a figment of our collective imaginations.

Oh I know. 'It can be Angel that's the betrayer. It's just too obvious.'

Only, painfully obvious or not, there it is.

What? You thought creativity was going to be involved?

Biggest and most disappointing load of old crap I've ever read.

Whedon you should be ashamed of yourself.

Is he the betrayer, though?

From what I've read about it, it sounds like I expected. Buffy will continue to alienate Spike, will be set opposite her friends and left behind. Only thing I'm not so sure of anymore is that it's her who breaks the Seed. That makes the most sense, so it probably won't happen.

Eh, at least if it's boring it won't intrude in my life too much. Also, it keeps proving that the deserters like me were right.I like being right.

I fell in love with your icon and snagged it. Has the Buffy issue 38 finally come out?? Seeing nothing on it. Although...haven't really looked either. (I miss BGF's reviews...they always had me giggling uncontrollably for twenty minutes.)

Angel is apparently now taken over by Twilight (yeah, thought he already was not sure what that the hell about) and Willow is appealing to a power to take her over or something. So, no it's not explaining why they did all the OOC shit that's gone on but is there to explain the OOC shit that's coming up next.

And still, no one gives a shit about Connor or Spike.

Yeah, it's amazing how these comics sucks the air out of fandom. It's one of many reasons I wish Joss had left well enough alone. The comics have somehow found a way to make everything worse.

Such is life in the Spike/Spuffy fandom.

You think that After Life was nice and Smashed might mean something, and you get sucker punched with the stuff that follows topped off by Seeing Red.

You think Joss will make some effort to fix the mess they made, and they so screw up the soul quest that ten years after the fact and no matter what the writers say, you still get into fandom arguments that it was somehow a mistake and have nothing on screen that could actually shut them up.

TPTB spend years browbeating the Spike fandom about the importance of soul and how nothing good Spike does counts because he doesn't have one, only when he gets one, it doesn't much matter to the characters and is likened to wet towels.

You think Spike dying to save the world might earn him some cred, and when he shows up in AtS, it's out of a joke Lindsey's pulling on Angel and all the AtS characters don't know about it or think it was all Buffy's work... And Buffy knew and didn't bother to... care.

And here we are all these years later with Q&A's from Jeanty about how Spike can't be very good ('cause he's not Angel).

Yeah, Spike fandom = Charlie Brown with Lucy's football.
