Happy Dance and... whew!

For various and sundry reasons I'm thrilled and relieved that this county school tax went through.  A group of Tea Partiers had it in their cites with tirades, articles, protest groups, and  "No More Taxes" ignorant B.S. signs posted everywhere (hey, people, we actually have to pay for our school systems, you know?  A good school system is also important to our property values! We have a good school system.  It's why it's a desirable place to live in the area.   And our property taxes have just gone down because everyone's home prices have just been adjusted down because of the economy)

Luckily it passed by 63%.  This will make me sleep better tonight (and work much happier tomorrow.  The tea baggers have been real assholes about it.  I guess they don't mind overcrowded classrooms and leaking roofs...}

We were all worried about it today because the tea partiers have been real assholes about it. I guess they don't mind overcrowded classrooms and leaking roofs...
Didn't you know? Public education is a first step towards making all innocent little children Liberal Neo-Monarchists, and all public school teachers indoctrinate children to be TEH GAY. Not only is public education evil, all education is the work of the devil. Everyone should revel in ignorance... even though every politician and public figure who preaches to the cult of misinformation has some form of public education as well as higher education (which turn your adult children into tools of Satan). To quote the old man at the voting precinct when I voted last year, "All schools should be abolished! They call it Liberal Arts for a reason, you know!"

:-) I'm glad your county school tax went through! Yay for enough textbooks for all the children! Yay for no overcrowding!

Everyone should revel in ignorance...

Like Sarah Palin? ::rimshot::

Jeez god, have you seen her statement on Egypt? How happy should we be that neither she nor McCain were in office (because being stupid and flying off the handle are their respective specialties) [And I know McCain's more recent statement wasn't insane, but I rather have the feeling that he had to be talked into it.]

And yay, the tax went through. So maybe they'll have the money for the cafeteria expansion for one of the existing elementary schools that's been sitting on my desk.

Haha! I love that Sarah Palin's plan for America seems to consist of: zero responsibility for one's actions, everyone must own a gun whether you want one or not, mandatory stupidity, and being force-fed a diet of lard and grease until you are unable to act under your own power. What is that Isaac Asimov quote? "Anti-Intellectualism is nurtured by the false belief that 'my ignorance' is just as good as 'your knowledge.'"

Palin frightens me, yet provides an endless source of frustrating entertainment (I fear her because it is so easy to dismiss her and forget that there are those that blindly believe every word from her mouth). One of the most mind-numbing things I had ever seen was when Palin went that private Christian school to complain about Michelle Obama's school lunch campaign and told everyone that the First Lady was going to be "taking cookies out of your children's mouth" while ignoring the fact that most school systems, public and private, create a lunch plan that has little parental input and that if a parent doesn't like what's on the menu, they can send a packed lunch with their child. No one is forcing parents to feed their kids certain foods if they don't want to. And the irony of it all- Sarah Palin complained about parents not having enough control over what their kids eat at school while handing out enormous cookies to the children without prior parental consent. Did she even bother to ask if any of those kids had allergies? Sweet, sweet, potentially deadly irony. *shakes head*

Makes me wonder how she hired her groomers and handlers because they aren't good at speechwriting or jokes or fact-checking or history or fundraising (except into her pockets and presumably theirs)... They aren't really good at anything. I actually miss Michael Steele! At least he seems to have found a new home with his bright red cardigan on MSNBC. XD
