Am much, much better today (though still a ways from 100%, but still a 100% better than yesterday which felt just shy of death...which sometimes looked almost preferable).
I don't know where I caught it. Most likely culprits being either the chicken, the scallions, the tomato, or the grapes. Or it could have been person to person as my mother had food poisoning a few weeks ago during a trip to Monroeville (where apparently a bunch of people at the picnic came down with it). Who knows... other than it was awful.
It's weird because I was abnormally hungry Tuesday night (which after a bit of googling is also a symptom. Who knew? Seems like a particularly perverse sympton making you hungry so that you can eat more so that the disease has more material to torture you with. )
I was suspicious that all was not well when I went to bed. By a little after midnight there was no question. By 1am I'd pretty much set up residence in the rest room. And the next 4-6 hours were hell.
Won't go into the symptoms which are TMI and gross, but the muscle aches were terrible as well. In fact, my back still hurts. What's with that? It's a gastro-intestinal disease, so why is my back killing me?
Nausea faded by yesterday afternoon but I couldn't make it to the kitchen much less work. And I had a 102 fever until early evening. So I basically slept all of yesterday (when not in other forms of distress) and all of last night.
I do feel substantially better today (though I do feel a bit like I've been beaten). I had enough energy to make it to work (there are times when it's good to have a sedintary job. I have a deadline and since basically I just need to work on the computer, I can handle it). I've even managed to drink an entire PowerAde drink for the electrolytes (which is more than I could keep down yesterday) and a few Ritz crackers (fingers crossed). Yesterday was basically little more than sips of Sprite and a few ice chips.
So better, though still fragile. But, hey, at least I don't feel like death today.

Date: 2011-06-30 05:24 pm (UTC)The other place you could have caught it, though, was from ice water. When I had Norwalk Virus, I did some reading and ice water tends to be one of the biggest culprits (people don't always think to wash their hands before handling ice, so it gets contaminated that way).
