Why is Life So Complicated -- Part II

I MISS OBSESSIVE FANDOM!

I MISS SPIKE!

What's so good about obsessive fandom (and Spike love) is that it gave something to obsess over other than my own life (er... huh... that means I feel a need to obsess over something doesn't it? I don't know if that's a good thing. Hmm).

But, yeah, fandom, BtVS, AtS, whatever gives something frivolous and inconsequential in the larger scheme of things to still care about passionately and it still all be harmless. It's such a wonderful distraction from real life.

Sniffle.

I Miss Spike! Whaaaaa!

See, politics is right now the distraction for me. It's either that or baseball, and neither the Mets nor the Sox are particularly inspiring now.

Oh, God, I don't miss it. At the end it all gave me a headache and a stomach ache and drove me frickin' crazy. My life became so much calmer after I gave up on B/S after Buffy S6 and Spike during AtS S5. And now I say: never again.

I know exactly how you feel. I've been getting my Spike fix from writing, but it's not the same. I miss him dreadfully - I even miss him being on screen and being made to do things that I really, really hate (like acting as if he's stupid all the time).

And BAPS is so quiet! We're all just sitting around waiting for some news on these TV movies, and as far as I can see, that's still way off in the distant future, if at all.

I seem to be a serial monogamous fan. I moved from Buffy to Angel, then to Deadwood. Since Deadwood isn't back on until 2005, we've been watching the X-Files on DVD and I'm all about Mulder and Scully at this point. When Serenity is due out, I'm sure I'll be obsessed with that.

I still have fond feelings for Spike the character and JM as an actor but I'm as distractable as a two-year old when something new or previously undiscovered interests me.
