I MISS OBSESSIVE FANDOM!
I MISS SPIKE!
What's so good about obsessive fandom (and Spike love) is that it gave something to obsess over other than my own life (er... huh... that means I feel a need to obsess over something doesn't it? I don't know if that's a good thing. Hmm).
But, yeah, fandom, BtVS, AtS, whatever gives something frivolous and inconsequential in the larger scheme of things to still care about passionately and it still all be harmless. It's such a wonderful distraction from real life.
Sniffle.
I Miss Spike! Whaaaaa!

Date: 2004-07-28 09:35 pm (UTC)LOL! Yeah, that's what I had concluded as well. Problem is, it doesn't work as a distraction for me. It just raises my blood pressure. I can't watch things like Crossfire because I just get worked up and angry... and I tend to think intellectually that it's kind of pointless (perhaps I should call myself more "apolitical" than of any particular affiliation.) But I just don't enjoy politics in the least. It tends to just piss me off. . .and I tend to be moderate all the way around and see both sides of the fence. It still tends to piss me off though. Hmm... maybe seeing both sides of the argument is what tends to frustrate me with the whole thing. I tend to get pissed off with the blinders both sets take on. Both have their areas of right, both have their areas of wrong, both have their propoganda and outrageous statements. And people being blindly devoted to one view and villanizing the other side just royally pisses me off. . .
so it just is something I don't like to delve into.
As far as I'm concerned, the truth is between the lines and in the middle and both sides could deal with a hell of a lot less paranoia, fingerpointing, and blind adherence to their own party while claiming that the "other side" is always wrong, nuts, extremist, whatever and that "their side" is the rational, compassionate, caring, "correct" view when really each have their rights and wrongs. There are things I dislike passionately about BOTH parties.
So... it all just frustrates me. Not fun. Not fun at all. :)
