Grrrr!!!! It took me a freaking HOUR to drive to work this morning. They put up all those damn, expensive signs to give information to drivers on the drive in, but apparently that THEY'VE CLOSED THE HIGHWAY! isn't important enough to post. All four lanes going into town were detoured down one little ramp into Mountain Brook. Suck doesn't even cover it. Didn't make it to the office until 9:15. Shit.

On a fandomish note, I'm an ep or two behind on Rome because I download from the torrents. So a few comments on Episode 7:

* Lucius and Pullo's survival was a bit ridiculous, wasn't it? They just HAPPENED to stay together and wash up on the same sandbar? And then building the raft out of dead bodies? Ew. I did like the matter of factness of when facing dehydration Pullo wondered whether they should drink blood. Lucius matter of factly said it was too salty and would only make them thirstier. No squick from him.

* Glad I wasn't just imagining the sapphic vibes between Servillia and Octavia. The first scene was ambiguous enough that you wondered whether Servillia was just being maternal while, good grief the UST-meter was pinging. Heh. Attia is going to be pissed! Although I would advise Octavia to keep it a secret because Attia will exploit that relationship. Then again, Attia might just use it to destroy Servillia since Caesar won the war and being in Servillia's good graces is no longer all that important.

* Speaking of Caesar, didn't buy him not killing Lucius for letting Pompey go. And his excuses for not killing Lucius are about as ridiculous as Buffy's were for not killing Spike. (I did like Marc Antony's dismay. He had been waiting for Caesar to smack that pompous Lucius down and Caesar just sends him away with a warning becase... What?! Can't kill Lucius because he's preternaturally lucky?!!

* Pompey's death was very graphic, wasn't it. I ended up liking his plain Jane wife for her never once whining in their escape and for always trying to keep the kids (who weren't even hers) spirits up and being very maternal. While I didn't care to actually witness Pompey's head cut off I thought the way the scene played with the wife was well done as she gasped and tried desperately to cover the children's eyes before they witnessed their father's grissly death while at the same time she was unable to tear her own eyes away from the horror. I thought the actress played that scene nicely.
